International Journal of Community, Solidarity and Responsibility is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal that focuses on the study of community life, social solidarity, and collective responsibility in contemporary societies. The journal is dedicated to publishing rigorous and original research that critically examines how communities are structured, how social bonds are formed and maintained, and how responsibility is negotiated among individuals, groups, institutions, and states.
The journal adopts an interdisciplinary and critical perspective, welcoming contributions from a wide range of disciplines including sociology, social work, social policy, anthropology, development studies, political science, public administration, and cultural studies. It seeks to bridge theoretical debates with empirical findings in order to provide a deeper understanding of social relations, power dynamics, and ethical responsibilities within communities across different cultural, economic, and political contexts.
Key thematic areas covered by the journal include, but are not limited to, social cohesion and fragmentation, community resilience, mutual aid and collective action, social responsibility and civic engagement, community-based development, social justice, welfare systems, and responses to social inequality, marginalisation, and crisis situations. Particular attention is given to studies that explore how solidarity and responsibility are mobilised in response to social change, economic transformation, political contestation, and global challenges such as poverty, migration, environmental degradation, and public health emergencies.
The journal also encourages critical reflections on public policy, governance, and institutional practices that shape community relations and social responsibility. Contributions may analyse the role of the state, civil society organisations, religious institutions, and market actors in constructing, contesting, or redefining the meaning of solidarity and responsibility in both local and global settings.
Committed to academic integrity and scholarly excellence, the International Journal of Community, Solidarity and Responsibility applies a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality and originality of published articles. The journal aims to serve as a global forum for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and critical reflection, fostering research that contributes not only to academic debates but also to practical and policy-oriented solutions for building more inclusive, just, and sustainable communities.
